This is my buddy Ernie. He is my second boxer rescue acquisition. My female boxer Teeger sadly had to be put to sleep last year because of cancer. I am from a boxer family. My sister raised a few litters of puppies and my parents rescued a white boxer, Patty, who lived to be 12 years old.
I am a Information Technology Professional by day. I am also taking classes in Geographic Information Systems (Geography). I have owned a horse for the past 6 years and have her in training for Western Pleasure. I was laid off from a large computer company in 2001 and so was trying to think of a business that I could start in case I was out of work for a while. I had been hearing from friends and acquaintances about how uncaring and devastating it was to have your horse put down only to have to then watch your equine friend be dragged out to the street where the rendering company would pick it up, maybe the next day. Maybe not. I thought there might be an opportunity for improvement in this process and talked to my sister and about the idea for a while. The thought of the money involved to acquire the needed equipment to haul 1000+ lb. horses put a damper on the idea, though discussion of it still comes up occassionally.
So, I scaled my grand plans down a bit and decided to put together this web site to promote the celebration of our animal friends and to offer options for those who are comforted by memorials and keepsakes of their four legged friends who have crossed over the rainbow bridge.
The cremated remains of my dog Jasmine are in a wooden box in the family room. Thank you to my friend Virginia for arranging that for me. And thank you to the vet tech who made a plaster cast of Teeger's paw as a memorial gift.
Bottom line. Celebrate your pets while they are here and keep memories of them when they are not. Cheers.
